George Strait’s 31st studio album, Cowboys And Dreamers, has made its debut, showcasing an exciting collaboration with Chris Stapleton on the track “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”
The lively, neotraditional song, co-written by Stapleton, humorously depicts a “world-class fool” who has become a fixture at his local honky-tonk, earning him a playful “hall of fame” status. The chorus highlights the character’s barroom exploits: “You’ll probably find a picture of me sippin’ on my liquor/ If you look up a world-class fool/ And I’ll say it once again, I’m the best that’s ever been/ At drinkin’ doubles up on this stool/ Well, go on, you can shake my hand/ Everybody’s gonna know my name/ When they hang my star behind the bar/ At the Honky Tonk Hall of Fame.”
The release of this duet follows the successful stadium tour that Strait and Stapleton have been on together, with their final performance scheduled for December 7 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Tickets for the show are available at georgestrait.com.
