The Brazilian rock trio Mad Sneaks has released their latest single, “Coma,” a raw and compelling track that critiques the illusion of instant gratification and false dreams in today’s world. Drawing influence from gritty ’90s rock, the song’s sharp lyrics deliver an urgent commentary on society’s obsession with shortcuts, appearances, and empty promises.
“Coma” explores the damaging effects of false solutions marketed as answers to life’s problems. The song condemns the culture of vanity and the growing industry of quick fixes, where people sell fake success and self-help courses without truly understanding their own struggles. The powerful lyrics, including the lines “Please, dream, die! Please, hunger, die!” express a desperate call to escape the illusions that entrap modern society.
“It’s about wanting too much and never feeling enough,” said frontman Agno Dissan. “It’s about clinging to things that destroy us—consumption, status, and image—believing they’ll fill the emptiness, when in reality, they only deepen it.” Surprisingly, these lyrics were written over ten years ago but resonate more strongly today.
Mad Sneaks, consisting of Agno Dissan, Amaury Johns, and Phill Andreas, has established a strong presence in Brazil’s alternative rock scene. Their debut album was mastered by Jack Endino, known for his work with Nirvana and Soundgarden. The band has also played at major festivals such as PMW and Goiânia Noise, and opened for Red Fang in São Paulo in 2018.
Their previous work has earned praise from notable figures, including Charles Cross, the biographer of Kurt Cobain. They’ve also collaborated with music icons like Page Hamilton of Helmet and Toby Wright, known for his work with Alice in Chains and Korn. In 2023, the band’s cover of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way” was praised for its unique blend of bandolim and xylophone, accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful music video.
In 2024, Mad Sneaks teamed up with Page Hamilton once again to record their new single “Void Space” in São Paulo, with the recording process documented in a mini-documentary.
“Coma” is now available on all streaming platforms, accompanied by a striking video that complements the song’s raw emotional depth. As the band prepares for a U.S. tour, Mad Sneaks continues to solidify their reputation as one of the most innovative and thought-provoking acts in the heavy rock scene today.
