San Francisco-based band Soara, featuring guitarist Akhilesh Rao and vocalist Pritam Adhikary (who replaces Kartik Subramanian), has just unveiled ‘Bishad,’ the first single from their upcoming album Moksh.
Continuing their tradition of tackling significant social issues, following past explorations of acid attacks and the South Asian obsession with fairness, Bishad delves into the warrior-like resilience of gurus and thinkers. The track touches on spiritual themes, reflected in both its lyrics and its music video, which draws inspiration from Satyajit Ray’s film Heerak Rajar Desh.
While staying true to the heavy metal genre, the song introduces elements of Bengali folk singing in its climactic sections, offering a refreshing contrast to the intense sound.
