Canadian technical death metal pioneers Cryptopsy have released their latest single, “Malicious Needs,” accompanied by a powerful music video directed by Gornoss. This new track offers fans a glimpse of the band’s upcoming album, An Insatiable Violence, which will be available on June 20th through Season of Mist.

An Insatiable Violence is Cryptopsy’s ninth studio album and represents their continuous evolution over a career spanning more than 30 years. The album delves into the darker aspects of modern society and the impact of social media, exploring themes like technology, addiction, and self-destruction.

The album features tracks such as “The Nimis Adoration,” inspired by a disturbing mukbang video, and “Until There’s Nothing Left,” driven by bassist Olivier Pinard’s dynamic performance. Vocalist Matt McGachy notes that the lyrics reflect on the influence of social media and the band’s own legacy. “Dead Eyes Replete” offers a cautionary message about the dangers of fame and online attention, while “Embrace the Nihility” includes a guest appearance from one of the band’s former vocalists, adding complexity to the album’s sound.

Drummer Flo Mounier, known for his technical prowess in extreme metal, introduces new rhythmic elements that sharpen the album’s intensity. The record concludes with “Malicious Needs,” a slow-building track that escalates into a chaotic finale, perfectly encapsulating the album’s uncompromising energy.
