Indian Classical Music Touches Hearts and Supports a Cause at Ravindra Bharathi

Hyderabad: Indian classical music once again showed its power to touch hearts while supporting a meaningful cause. The fifth season of the Classical Concert Series, held here recently, was more than just a musical event—it had a purpose. Organized by the Sangitanjaly Foundation to benefit the Autism Ashram, the concert featured a duet by sarod maestro Pt Debojyoti Bose and tabla virtuoso Ustad Akram Khan. Their performance was both meditative and masterful.

At Ravindra Bharathi, the audience embarked on a soulful musical journey. Pt Bose began with Raag Jinjhoti, moved into a heartfelt Bageshree set in Rupak taal, and concluded with a smooth blend of Jog, Pahadi, and Kirwani ragas. Ustad Akram Khan’s tabla added depth, as both musicians skillfully responded to each other’s improvisations with ease and closeness.

Abhijeeth Bhattacharjee, chairman of Sangitanjaly Foundation, said, “The concert helps keep our musical heritage alive while also making it meaningful for communities.” The event was curated with Grammy jury member Pt Prodyut Mukherjee, aiming to connect traditional music with contemporary social responsibility.

The combination of melody and rhythm stayed true to classical form but carried deep human emotions. The performance left the audience not only applauding but also reflecting on the emotional and healing power of music.
