American black metal band Abigail Williams, led by mastermind and frontman Ken Sorceron, has released their first new song in six years titled “Nonexistence.” The current lineup features Vance Valenzuela of Vale Of Pnath on guitars, John Porada, formerly of Nachtmystium and Wolvhammer, on bass, and Mike Heller of Fear Factory and Malignancy on drums.
“Nonexistence” stays true to the black metal style but adds rich atmosphere and features a guitar solo reminiscent of David Gilmour’s work. Sorceron reflects on the making of the album, saying, “This record was born in the quiet hours, when everything felt hollow.” He explains that the album’s title, A Void Within Existence, is more than just a name—it captures a deep feeling he experienced while writing. Sorceron describes the songs as threaded with loneliness that came from a place deeper than expected. He felt both the world outside and the world inside were falling apart.
Sorceron aimed to push beyond the boundaries set by their previous album Walk Beyond the Dark. He wanted to explore all aspects—sonic, emotional, and spiritual—without limits. Sorceron produced the album to stay true to this vision. With Dave Otero handling the mixing and Mike Heller on drums, the music came alive just as Sorceron imagined: raw, vast, and crushing. He says the album is about absence, about removing what is not real and facing the void left behind. What remains, he suggests, might be the truth—or maybe just the void itself.
Sorceron calls this his most honest work to date. He describes A Void Within Existence as more than an album; it is a crucible, a journey through fire where only shadow and silence remain.
Abigail Williams will release A Void Within Existence on July 18. The album was produced by Ken Sorceron, mixed by Dave Otero—known for work with Aborted and Akhlys—and features cover art by Eliran Kantor, who has worked with Testament and Bloodbath. Pre-orders are now available.
