New Drummer of Legendary Rock Band Thoughts After Replacing Music Legend’s Son

The Who have parted ways with their longtime drummer Zak Starkey, the son of music legend Ringo Starr. Starkey was fired, then re-hired, and fired again—all within one month. This happened as the band prepares for their final farewell tour.

Scott Devours, who has been the drummer for Roger Daltrey’s solo band for many years, has been promoted to replace Starkey. Devours shared his feelings in a recent Instagram post.

“With a short and simple post, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey changed my life again,” Devours wrote. “It’s hard to explain the flood of emotions I have since hearing this news.”

Devours thanked fans who congratulated him. “The amount of support I have received is overwhelming. I truly thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. But please, do not ask me for tickets.”

He said he understands that many fans are upset about Starkey’s departure. Devours admitted he is also feeling sadness. “I am experiencing mixed emotions. This is the biggest moment of my career, but it also comes with sadness for someone else’s loss.”

“It’s hard to find the right words, but these feelings are very real,” he added.

Devours said he feels the heavy responsibility of his new role. “I want all fans to know that I will work hard to honor the legacy of The Who, Zak Starkey, Kenney Jones, Simon Phillips, and the memory of Keith Moon.”

He said being mentioned alongside these great drummers is an honor that gives him chills. “I know I have to earn this respect.”

Devours promised to give his all on The Who’s final U.S. tour. “I will dedicate every second, every beat of my heart, and every drop of sweat and blood to this. I will give everything I have, and the rest will soon be history.”
