David Draiman, the lead singer of the hard rock band Disturbed, is usually associated with intense songs like “Down With the Sickness” and his band’s famous cover of “The Sound of Silence.” Romance is not typically the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of him.
However, during a concert in Sacramento, California, on May 9, Draiman surprised fans with a heartfelt and romantic gesture. He invited his girlfriend, model Sarah Uli, onto the stage before proposing to her in front of the cheering crowd.
In a video from the show, Draiman can be heard calling Uli to the stage. Initially confused, Uli stood in front of Draiman, as he joked about her reaction. “She’s looking at me and thinking, ‘What the f—k is he doing?’” Draiman said with a laugh.
But soon, the mood shifted to one of love and sincerity. Draiman expressed his deep feelings for Uli, saying, “Sarah, my love, you have made my life so much better. You are the light in the darkness. I love you more than anything I have ever loved in this world.”
He then dropped to one knee, revealing a ring box as the audience erupted in cheers. “It would be an absolute pinnacle of my life and my existence…” Draiman continued before asking, “Sarah, will you marry me?”
Uli, clearly emotional, accepted the proposal, and the couple shared a kiss as the crowd celebrated.
The special moment was shared on social media, with Uli posting on Instagram, “The happiest moment ever with the love of my life We are engaged!!!! @davidmdraiman.” Fans quickly flooded the comments with congratulations, with one writing, “Huge congratulations!!!!!!” and another adding, “Oh gosh! Mazal Tov beautiful souls.”
The heartfelt proposal was a surprising and touching moment for fans of the hard rock star.
