Apple is stepping into the world of ambient and lofi-style music with a new offering designed to support focus, relaxation, and sleep. In partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), the company has launched a collection called Sound Therapy on Apple Music.
The collection features three categories of tracks: Focus, Relax, and Sleep. These tracks are instrumental, extended, and reimagined versions of songs by major artists such as Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, and Kacey Musgraves. According to a press release, the project aims to help listeners “attain clearer focus, deeper relaxation, and better sleep.”
Apple and UMG say these tracks include elements like auditory beats and colored noise, which may trigger certain brainwave responses. For example, gamma waves and white noise could boost concentration, theta waves may promote relaxation, and delta waves and pink noise — which sound like gentle wind or rain — could support better sleep.
A dreamy version of Katy Perry’s Double Rainbow is included for sleep playlists, while an adapted Imagine Dragons track might enhance productivity during work sessions.
While not everyone may find music helpful for tasks like working or falling asleep, these playlists offer new options for those who do. Fans of calming background music, including lofi beats, may find this collection particularly appealing.
In addition to Sound Therapy, Apple also offers a chill music radio station and an Ambient Music tool that features curated playlists for sleep, relaxation, productivity, and general wellbeing.
