On the morning of May 13, the K-Star Spark music festival officially announced that G-Dragon will perform at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on June 21. This marks his first visit to Vietnam in 13 years.

The news quickly spread across social media, sparking a wave of excitement among K-pop fans, particularly VIPs (BIGBANG’s fanbase) in Vietnam. A surge of articles about G-Dragon quickly topped the trending charts, proving that his popularity remains strong despite his long absence.

G-Dragon, born Kwon Ji Yong in 1988, is one of the most influential figures in K-pop history. He debuted with BIGBANG in 2006 and played a key role in shaping the global reach of Korean music. Iconic songs like “Haru Haru,” “Fantastic Baby,” and “Bang Bang Bang” have become unforgettable anthems for millions of fans worldwide.

Beyond his success with BIGBANG, G-Dragon has established a stellar solo career. Tracks like “Crayon,” “Crooked,” “Untitled, 2014,” and “Who You?” have earned critical and commercial success both in Korea and internationally. His solo albums, One of a Kind, COUP D’ETAT, and Kwon Ji Yong, set sales records and helped elevate G-Dragon’s fame beyond Korea.

In late October 2024, G-Dragon returned to the music scene with his third studio album, Übermensch. The album’s lead single, “Too Bad,” quickly topped the charts on Korea’s four major platforms: Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Vibe. Other tracks like “Drama,” “Home Sweet Home,” and “Take Me” also saw high chart placements.

G-Dragon then kicked off his Übermensch World Tour, which began with two sold-out
