Gwen Stefani, 55, sparked a divide among fans following her performance at the KIIS FM Wango Tango pop concert over the weekend.

Stefani took the stage to perform her 2004 hit Hollaback Girl, but not everyone was impressed by her appearance and performance. Some fans compared her to pop star Katy Perry, who has recently faced criticism for her “cringe” performances during her Lifetime tour.

One fan commented, “She looks tired,” while another said, “It’s giving Katy Perry Lifetime tour vibes.” A third fan added, “The age is starting to show… I wish she made more mature songs.”

At 55, Stefani was one of the oldest performers at the event, alongside 57-year-old French DJ David Guetta. Other artists on the lineup included Meghan Trainor (31), Doja Cat (29), and K-pop groups KATSEYE, Hearts2Hearts, and NMIXX.

Despite the harsh criticism, Stefani also received support from fans. One supporter praised her, saying, “She looks gorgeous and sounds great at 55!! Such an inspiring woman, love her forever. Her last album, Bouquet, is a masterpiece.” Another fan wrote, “Wow, Gwen looks so incredible and young! Go girl.” A third fan commented, “Legendary musician. I respect artists. Keep politics out of it.”

The No Doubt frontwoman has faced controversy in recent months. She promoted the popular Catholic prayer app Hallow, which offers prayers, guided meditations, Bible stories, and chants. Stefani’s retweet of a Tucker Carlson interview with Jonathan Roumie, who stars as Jesus in The Chosen, also caused a stir among fans. Stefani added a message of praise for Roumie, calling him an “inspirational human” and expressing gratitude for the interview.

Fans were vocal in their disappointment, with some expressing frustration over Stefani’s public association with Catholicism. One fan referenced her No Doubt hit Don’t Speak, writing, “Don’t speak.” Others said they “miss the old Gwen,” while one called her “embarrassing.”

Stefani has been open about her faith and devotion to Catholicism, frequently attending church and discussing her beliefs.
