The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) hosted its annual celebration of pop music songwriting at Los Angeles’ Petersen Automotive Museum. The event, which highlighted the achievements of the music industry’s top talent, was filled with excitement and praise.

ASCAP President Paul Williams, known for his passion for cars, brought his signature energy to the evening. He highlighted this year’s notable winners, including Song of the Year for “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims. The track, co-written by ASCAP member Joshua “Ammo” Coleman, made history as the longest-running top 10 song on Billboard’s Hot 100, spending 58 weeks on the chart.

Legendary artist-producer Jack Antonoff was named Songwriter of the Year. Antonoff, who could not attend in person due to international commitments, delivered his thanks through a recorded message. His work over the past year included writing some of ASCAP’s most-performed songs, such as “Please Please Please” by Sabrina Carpenter and several hits for Taylor Swift, including “Anti-Hero,” “Fortnight,” and “Karma.”

Sony Music Publishing was honored as Publisher of the Year for a diverse range of hits, including songs by Shaboozey, Chappell Roan, Dua Lipa, Kendrick Lamar, Noah Kahan, and Beyoncé.

Other songwriting winners included Amy Allen, Chappell Roan, Dan Nigro, Dua Lipa, Justin Timberlake, Justin Tranter, and Victoria Monét, among others.

As the only U.S. performing rights organization governed by music creators, ASCAP’s event brought together industry professionals in a lively and inspiring atmosphere, celebrating the power of collaboration and creativity in music.
