Paul ‘Pooh’ Lunt Aims to Make the Philippines Asia’s Next Pop Powerhouse

by Patria

Paul “Pooh” Lunt, the music entrepreneur behind the global success of Gangnam Style, is making a strategic move to position the Philippines as the next center of Asian pop music. As the president and CEO of Popolo Music Group, Lunt is creating a comprehensive platform designed to discover, develop, and launch Filipino artists on the global stage.

Lunt’s new label will focus on producing original, globally competitive music, crafted by an experienced international team of writers and producers. In addition, Popolo Live, his upcoming venture, will work as a global concert promoter, securing international performance opportunities for Filipino artists.

“The Philippines is the largest English-speaking country in Asia, rich in musical talent and cultural influence. It’s time the global industry took notice,” Lunt said.

Although Lunt initially worked as a chef, he shifted to the music industry, where he has earned a reputation for his low profile and sharp business strategies. His vision is to create a distinct Filipino pop movement, one that is unique from K-pop but still resonates globally.

Lunt’s collaboration hopes include pop icon Sarah Geronimo, with early discussions already underway. Final plans will be presented to Viva Records for a potential joint project.

With the right infrastructure, talent, and global experience in place, Lunt is betting on Filipino music, and the world is beginning to pay attention.
