The Philharmonie Luxembourg has announced that pianist Kit Armstrong and violinist Renaud Capuçon will be its Artists in Focus for the 2025/26 season. Both artists will perform in several concerts throughout the season at various venues.
Armstrong will begin his role with a concert at Trier’s St. Paulus Kirche, where he will perform keyboard concertos by Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. He will also participate in a jazz/classical improvisation performance alongside fellow pianist Michael Wollny.
In January 2026, Armstrong will present a piano quartet program with violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley, violist Amihai Grosz, and cellist Anastasia Kobekina. His season finale will feature a performance on both piano and organ, with works by Saint-Saëns, Sweelinck, and Widor.
Renaud Capuçon, the French violinist, will kick off his tenure as Artist in Focus with a performance alongside renowned pianist Martha Argerich. They will perform works by Schumann, Beethoven, and Franck.
In February, Capuçon will return to conduct the orchestra, performing Schumann’s Cello Concerto with cellist Julia Hagen. He will also collaborate with cellist Kian Soltani and pianist Mao Fujita for Schubert’s Piano Trio and Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 1.
