Developer Sandfall Interactive has announced that the soundtrack for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard charts in the weeks following its release.
The turn-based RPG, which has become a major hit among fans, has garnered particular praise for its music. Enthusiastic fans have been discussing the soundtrack on social media, and now that praise is reflected in its success on the Billboard charts.
Currently, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sits at number one on both the Classical Albums and Classical Crossover Albums charts. The soundtrack has also achieved notable positions on other charts, including number 13 on the Official Soundtrack Album chart and number 31 on the Official Album Download chart. The game’s music is proving to be just as popular as its engaging story and gameplay.
The soundtrack features more than 150 individual tracks, many of which have gained significant streaming attention. Among them, the track Lumière has emerged as a standout, with nearly 1.9 million views on YouTube and over 1.9 million streams on Spotify.
The success of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 soundtrack is especially impressive given that it was composed by Lorien Testard, who was discovered on SoundCloud, as Sandfall shared in an interview with BBC.
Released on April 24, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has already sold over 2 million copies. The game’s success has been so remarkable that even French President Emmanuel Macron offered his congratulations to the team at Sandfall.
