Alisa Xayalith, the Kiwi singer known for her work with The Naked and Famous, has announced her debut solo album Slow Crush, set for release on April 4th. Along with the announcement, Xayalith dropped a new single titled “What The Hell Do We Do Now?”—a raw exploration of relationship tension co-written with Jacob Munk (Wallice, Ekkstacy).
The track delves into the frustration of reaching a standstill in a relationship, offering no resolution, but instead capturing a moment of unresolved guilt. “I came across a songwriting tip which unlocked something in my creative process,” Xayalith explains. “The protagonist in ‘What The Hell Do We Do Now?’ is this ugly, guilty character, while the rest of the album navigates my experiences with limerence, grief, and heartache.”
The song marks the fifth single from the upcoming album, following releases like “Chaotic,” “Ordinary Love,” “Boys & Guitars,” and “Roses.” These tracks will appear on Slow Crush, a record produced in collaboration with Tyler Spry. The album promises to be an intimate journey through love, loss, and personal growth, inspired by Xayalith’s own quest to create a space for self-exploration and emotional expression.
Slow Crush will be available on April 4th via Nettwork.
