A fresh face in the K-pop scene, rookie boy band KickFlip is ready to make waves with their debut album, “Kick it, Flip it!” Released on Monday, the highly anticipated album marks the beginning of what the group hopes will be a journey toward K-pop stardom, with aspirations to follow in the footsteps of successful acts like Stray Kids.
At a showcase in Seoul, leader Kyehoon, who spent nearly a decade as a trainee at JYP Entertainment, shared his excitement. “We worked so hard for this moment,” he said. “All seven of us stuck together and practiced relentlessly. We’ll show you how much we’ve got. KickFlip will try really hard. Please look forward to what we’ll show everyone.”
KickFlip, JYP Entertainment’s first new boy band in two years, consists of Kyehoon, Amaru, Donghwa, Juwang, Minje, Keiju, and Donghyeon. The group’s name is inspired by a skateboarding move, symbolizing their goal to “flip” K-pop with energy and rebellion.
The band has already made a strong impression, with over 300,000 copies of “Flip it, Kick it!” pre-ordered as of January 15. “We know we come from an agency with a line of amazing groups,” said Donghwa. “We feel honored to be a part of it and promise to deliver great performances.”
The album features six tracks, with the energetic lead single “Mama Said” alongside B-sides such as “Umm Great,” “Warriors,” “Knock Knock,” “Like A Monster,” and “See You On Tomorrow.” Several members, including Amaru and Kyehoon, contributed to the songwriting, adding a personal touch to their debut.
With their debut already drawing attention, KickFlip is poised to make a strong impact in the competitive world of K-pop.
