Drake appears to be keeping true to his promise of working on new music reflecting his experiences from the past year.
A new clip circulating on social media features OVO artist Smiley discussing Drake’s dedication to his craft. Smiley revealed that Drake has been focused on creating new material, even while attending parties and during the filming of the “Nokia” music video. “I saw him the other day,” Smiley shared. “We were at a party, and he was in another room by himself, eating pasta with wired headphones, writing music, while the whole party was going on. He’s in a different zone right now.”
Smiley continued, explaining that even during breaks at the “Nokia” video shoot, Drake was busy recording with a group of producers. “So he’s in that crazy mode right now,” Smiley added.
Earlier this year, during his Anita Max Win tour in Australia and New Zealand, Drake hinted at new music, telling fans that he would have a “one-on-one talk” with them when the time was right. In April, while streaming with Adin Ross, he mentioned that he was working on a new album, teasing it as “a slap,” and thanked fans for streaming his collaboration with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
Drake also reposted Smiley’s clip about his work habits on his Instagram Story, lending further credibility to Smiley’s claims.
The rapper, known for his Take Care album, hasn’t released a solo project since For All the Dogs in 2023.
