The British band Wolf Alice has released a new single called ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’. They also announced that their fourth studio album, The Clearing, will be released on August 29th through their new global label, Sony Music.
The album was written in Seven Sisters and recorded last year in Los Angeles with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin. The Clearing shows the band’s sound in 2025. It features confident songs full of ambition, ideas, and emotion. The album is described as timeless.
The music video for ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ is a collaboration with the creative agency Stink and director Colin Solal Cardo. Cardo is known for working with artists like Charli XCX, Robyn, Christine & The Queens, and Phoenix. The video breaks down a classic rock performance, inspired by Bob Fosse’s style from All That Jazz. It features a standout performance by lead singer Ellie Rowsell, surrounded by dancers choreographed by Emmy Award-winning Ryan Heffington, who has worked on Euphoria, Sia, Kenzo, and with Margaret Qualley.
‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ starts a new chapter for Wolf Alice. The song is a powerful and passionate introduction to the album. It celebrates growth and change in life, music, and art. With a strong bass riff, this is the band’s first new music in three years. The track offers a fresh take on heavy rock, with a clever, less aggressive sound.
Ellie Rowsell explains, “I wanted to create a rock song that focuses on performance, where I could sing like Axl Rose but sing about being a woman. In the past, I used the guitar as a shield. Playing guitar helped me avoid the stereotype of the ‘girl singer in a band.’ But this time, I wanted to focus on my voice as a rock instrument. It has been freeing to put the guitar down and not feel like I need to prove that I’m a musician.”
