The Omsk Symphony Orchestra presented a new concert program titled “Dreams”. The performance featured works by Debussy, Berlioz, Mendelssohn, Schnittke, and Schumann. Uniquely, the concert was held entirely in the dark, without any footlights.
The cello parts were performed by Anastasia Ushakova, soloist of Mosconcert and founder of the All-Russian Cello Academy project.
What was new about Schumann’s arrangement? And why is listening to music in the dark so much more engaging than in the light?
