Snoop Dogg’s New Album ‘Iz It a Crime?’ Features Wiz Khalifa, Sexyy Red & Pharrell

Just five months after teaming up with Dr. Dre for the Missionary album, Snoop Dogg is back with a new project. His next studio album, titled Iz It a Crime?, is set to drop on Thursday, May 15.

The album features 21 tracks and includes guest appearances from Pharrell Williams, Sexyy Red, Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Bereal, Jane Handcock, October London, and others. The title track samples Sade’s classic song, “Is It a Crime,” and plays a key role in the album’s theme.

Speaking with Access Hollywood on Tuesday, May 13, Snoop explained the inspiration behind the album’s concept. “It’s about the things I’ve done, the things I do, and the questions people ask. I want to ask, ‘Is it a crime?’ Is it wrong for me to help others, to love others, to be myself?” he said.

Now leading Death Row Records, Snoop Dogg stopped by The Breakfast Club on Wednesday, May 14, where he opened up about why he still feels driven to make music.

“I’m an MC. I love to rap. I love making music, and people enjoy my voice and my songs,” Snoop said. “And when I don’t make great music, people tell me that too.”

He continued, “I’ve realized I should treat myself like a musician, not just a rapper. A musician can create music for life. A rapper gets boxed in with age limits. I don’t want that cap.”

Alongside the album, a short film titled Iz It a Crime? will be released as a visual companion to the music. A private screening was held in New York City on Tuesday night to preview the film.

Iz It a Crime? will be Snoop Dogg’s 21st studio album. He’s been busy this year, including a contribution to Death Row’s Altar Call gospel compilation in April. That album honors the memory of Snoop’s late mother and celebrates his Long Beach roots.
