Emerging indie pop music artist Flora from Kansas is stepping into the spotlight with her electrifying new single, “The Ghost Is Me.” The track, which blends vivid symbolism with raw emotion, reflects the inner turmoil and anxiety of a middle child. Set to appear on her debut EP Homesick, slated for release on March 14 via Melodic Records, “The Ghost Is Me” offers a powerful snapshot of Flora’s emotional journey.
Flora explains the inspiration behind the song: “It’s about all the rage I felt in middle school. The song is from the perspective of a younger me. Now that I’m in high school, I don’t necessarily still feel those things, but it’s a nod to my younger self.”
The accompanying music video, directed by Marc Havener, was filmed in Flora’s hometown and features scenes shot at her church, the same location used in the classic horror film Carnival of Souls. “It was such a fun experience working with Marc, who’s done work on big Hollywood films but now calls Kansas home,” Flora shares. The video’s eerie visuals mirror the haunting themes of the song, creating a striking visual narrative for the track.
