Dave Grohl has been added to the lineup for SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert, set to take place on February 14 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The concert, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, will also feature performances by Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Chris Martin, and many others.
Grohl was not initially part of the announced lineup but appears in a new promotional video for the event, which will stream live on Peacock. The special, executive produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels and Mark Ronson, will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
Grohl’s inclusion in the anniversary concert is especially notable given his deep ties to SNL. Over the years, he has made 15 appearances on the show—setting the record for most musical performances—both with Foo Fighters and Nirvana, as well as with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Them Crooked Vultures.
Grohl’s public profile had been quiet since last September, when he confirmed he fathered a child outside his marriage. He subsequently took a step back from the public eye, even canceling a performance with Foo Fighters at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut. His recent return to the stage came at the FireAid concert in Los Angeles, where he reunited with former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear for a memorable set.
The SNL 50 anniversary concert is expected to be a spectacular celebration, featuring an array of major artists including Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Brittany Howard, Brandi Carlile, Mumford & Sons, and more. This event follows the release of 50 Years of SNL Music, a documentary in which Grohl discussed his relationship with the iconic show.
Tickets for the SNL 50 anniversary concert are available now, and the event will be streamed live on Peacock.
