Carly Pearce shared a personal and health-focused update, revealing that she has been diagnosed with recurrent pericarditis, a condition causing inflammation around the heart. Pearce discussed the debilitating chest pain and shortness of breath she experienced, symptoms that led her to seek medical attention.
“I had a really debilitating chest pain that was only relieved if I bent over,” she explained. “That’s a classic symptom of pericarditis, and when you lay back it gets way worse. I had that and just a really intense shortness of breath, like almost having to suck through a straw.”
Fortunately, Pearce is now on the mend and feeling much better. She shared, “I’m healthy and I’m trying to find my new normal,” while revealing that she has dealt with several flare-ups of the condition since 2020.
As a young, active woman who runs regularly and takes care of her health, Pearce emphasized the importance of being your own advocate. “You are your best advocate,” she said.
Previously, Pearce admitted that her health has impacted her performance routine, sometimes requiring her to alter her setlist depending on how she’s feeling.
Pearce’s Hummingbird World Tour is set to resume on February 9 in Stockholm, Sweden, where fans can expect a heartfelt performance—just with a bit of extra care for her heart.
