Jelly Roll took the stage at the FireAid Benefit Concert in Los Angeles last week, joining an impressive lineup that included Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and others. The event, which spanned performances at L.A.’s Intuit Dome and Kia Forum, also marked a special moment for the Tennessee native as he paid tribute to the first responders battling the devastating wildfires ravaging the city.
During his Jelly Roll & Friends event at the Rose Bowl, the artist expressed his deep gratitude for the courageous men and women working tirelessly to protect the community. In an emotional address, Jelly Roll shared, “I want you to know that you are here tonight because you are a hero, or you are a loved one of a hero… I knew the moment I was watching this go down all the way in Tennessee, I thought if I got a chance to go to California, I was gonna play music for everyone who worked their ass off for the last two months trying to keep the rest of this place safe.”
The show, packed with Jelly Roll’s hit songs such as Liar, Need a Favor, and Son of a Sinner, also saw the artist bringing together a wide range of musical collaborators. He was joined by Nate Smith for a performance of Whiskey on You, as well as rap legends Public Enemy, rock heavyweights Shinedown, and EDM producer Marshmello. Jelly Roll’s genre-blending set created an electrifying atmosphere that kept the crowd engaged throughout the night.
For the grand finale, Jelly Roll invited his close friend and label-mate, Lainey Wilson, to perform their emotional 2023 ballad, Save Me. Lainey Wilson later took to TikTok to express her admiration for the event, saying, “Jelly Roll doin what Jelly does. It was an honor to thank some heroes alongside him at the Rose Bowl Stadium last night.”
The benefit concert closed with a heartfelt message of gratitude to the first responders, leaving a lasting impact on the community and emphasizing the event’s greater purpose: supporting those who continue to put their lives on the line for Los Angeles.
