French metal band Gojira has claimed the Grammy for “Metal Performance of the Year” following their powerful collaboration with opera singer Marina Viotti at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The band’s rendition of Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!), which featured striking visuals of a decapitated Marie-Antoinette, triumphed over other nominees including Metallica and Judas Priest.

In addition, French electronic duo Justice earned their third Grammy, winning Best Dance/Electronic Recording for their track Neverender. Despite being on tour in France, Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Augé expressed their excitement to Le Parisien, reflecting on their childhood admiration for the prestigious awards.

Justice’s album Hyperdrama competed against stiff contenders, including Charli XCX’s Brat. The duo also garnered three nominations for France’s Victoires de la Musique awards, set to take place on February 14.
