Beyoncé made history once again at the 2025 Grammy Awards, claiming the trophy for Best Country Album for her 2024 hit Cowboy Carter. The win adds to her unparalleled legacy as the most decorated artist in Grammy history. Taylor Swift, nominated for six awards this year, presented Beyoncé with the honor.
“I was not expecting this,” Beyoncé said with gratitude before continuing her speech. “I want to thank God that I’m still able to do what I love after so many years. I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it.”
With 99 Grammy nominations and more than 30 wins to her name, Beyoncé’s victory in the country genre is particularly significant after she was shut out of nominations at the 2024 CMA Awards. She also used the moment to address the limitations of genre, urging fellow artists to remain true to their passions. “I think sometimes genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists,” she explained. “I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent.”
Swift, who presented the award, reflected on her own career, recalling her 2008 Grammy win for Best Country Album with Fearless. Earlier in the night, Beyoncé also took home the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus on “II Most Wanted.”
