Rock band Catfish and the Bottlemen have unveiled their first single in half a decade, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey. Titled ‘Showtime’, the track was recorded in Los Angeles under the helm of esteemed producer Dave Sardy, renowned for his work with iconic acts such as Oasis and the Rolling Stones.

With ‘Showtime’, frontman Van McCann’s growth as a songwriter shines through, offering a glimpse into the artistic evolution that fans can expect from the band’s forthcoming album. The single’s release follows a period of online anticipation, further fueling excitement for the upcoming record.

In addition to the new music, Catfish and the Bottlemen have announced a series of headline performances slated for the summer of 2024. Fans can catch the band live at Cardiff Castle on July 19 and the Edinburgh Summer Sessions on August 24. Moreover, the group is set to take the main stage at the Reading and Leeds Festival later in the year.

For those eager to secure tickets to the Cardiff and Edinburgh shows, general sale begins at 10 am GMT on March 1, offering enthusiasts a chance to experience the band’s electrifying performances firsthand.

Reflecting on his aspirations as a performer, Van McCann shared his ambitious vision, citing inspiration drawn from legendary acts like Oasis. In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, the 31-year-old singer expressed his desire to play in stadiums, likening the magnetic atmosphere of Oasis concerts to his own aspirations for Catfish and the Bottlemen’s future success.

“I want us to play stadiums. Not just arenas, but stadiums,” McCann stated. “If you’re in a band and you don’t want that, it’s like saying you’re happy sitting on the bench at Liverpool. If I was gonna be a bin man, I’d make sure I was the best. You’re here one day and gone the next, so why not want to play in football stadiums?”

McCann’s reminiscence of attending Oasis concerts, particularly the transformative energy that enveloped Manchester during such events, underscores his determination to create similarly monumental experiences for Catfish and the Bottlemen’s audience.
