Atlantic Music Group and Japan’s Avex Music Group have announced a new partnership to support future music releases from rising J-pop boy band ONE OR EIGHT.
The announcement came on Tuesday, May 27. In a joint statement, the two companies said the group is gaining international traction with their current single, DSTM. The song recently entered the Mediabase Top 40 Airplay chart, making ONE OR EIGHT the first J-pop group to ever achieve this milestone.
“This is a major step forward for Japanese music on the global stage,” the statement read. “It shows growing interest from U.S. listeners in diverse and cross-cultural music.” DSTM is also performing well globally, charting in 14 countries outside the United States.
Atlantic Records and Avex will now work together to promote the group’s upcoming single 365, which is scheduled for release on June 18. In addition, ONE OR EIGHT is currently on a worldwide fan meeting tour. Stops include Japan, the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico.
ONE OR EIGHT is an all-Japanese eight-member boy group consisting of MIZUKI, NEO, REIA, RYOTA, SOUMA, TAKERU, TSUBASA, and YUGA. They made their global debut on August 16, 2024, and have since seen rapid growth in popularity.
The group’s name, “ONE OR EIGHT,” is based on a Japanese idiom that means “All or Nothing.” It reflects their fearless attitude toward both life and music. Their official slogan, “BET ON YOURSELF,” highlights their mission to face the world with courage, unity, and ambition.
