K-pop Rock Band DAY6 Concludes ‘Forever Young’ Tour at KSPO Dome

by Patria

It took K-pop rock band DAY6 ten years to perform at the KSPO Dome in southern Seoul. When they finally did, they made sure to leave a strong impression.

DAY6, known as K-pop’s unique rock band, ended their “Forever Young” world tour with six final concerts at the KSPO Dome. These shows took place from May 9 to 11 and again from last Friday to Sunday. Over the six performances, the band welcomed a total of 96,000 fans. Each day, the dome was filled with 16,000 people, making it the largest audience ever hosted by the venue for a single act.

This record crowd was possible because of the band’s special 360-degree stage setup. Unlike typical K-pop acts that use wide, horizontal stages, DAY6’s stage was placed in the center of the dome. The band members stayed in place with their instruments, so they did not need to move around like dancers. This allowed the audience to have a clear view from every angle.

The 360-degree stage gave fans more than just a view of the four members. The circular stage was below the audience’s line of sight, with large digital screens hanging above. This setup let fans see the band’s faces closely and also see the opposite side of the hall. Together with lasers and lightsticks, the scene looked like a sparkling sea of stars.

The show started with the song “Best Part” from 2019. From the first moment, the mix of fan lightsticks, spotlights, and digital screens created an immersive experience. It felt more like a coming-of-age movie than a typical concert. The band played many of their hit songs including “Time of Our Life” (2019), “Happy” (2024), “The Power of Love” (2024), “Zombie” (2020), and “Welcome to the Show” (2024).

Confetti and fireworks added to the excitement inside the dome. The band performed 33 songs over four hours without the usual “VCR breaks” that other K-pop groups use for changing costumes or resting. Even when talking to the audience between songs, they quickly moved back to live singing as fans called out requests.

“Wow, guys, you need to calm down. How are you planning to keep up this pace?” said Sungjin, clearly amazed by the loud cheers from the record-breaking crowd on Sunday. He added, “People often tell me that DAY6 shows are not only about our performance but also about the energy and passion of our fans. It shows that this concert is made by all of us together.”

During the concert, the stage slowly rotated clockwise and anticlockwise. This allowed fans to see every band member from different angles. Wonpil played the keyboard, Sungjin played guitar, and Young K handled the bass. Drummer Dowoon sat on a raised platform, keeping him visible at all times. Since he sings less in their songs, his close-ups on the main screen were fewer.

Near the end of the four-hour concert, the members grew emotional. They shared their thoughts on the nine-month-long “Forever Young” tour, which began last September, and expressed thanks to their loyal fan club, My Day.

Young K said, “As artists, we sometimes worry about people losing interest in us. But at every concert, My Day reminds us not to worry and just focus on making music. Even if our concerts become smaller in the future, it won’t be so bad. As long as we can meet you, My Day, it means we are still singing for you. Thank you for letting us see this.”

Wonpil added, “This tour has been wonderful, precious, and challenging for us. We all get hurt sometimes, but I hope the world is kinder to you, and you get hurt less. I wish happiness to every one of you here.”

Dowoon shared mixed feelings, “I feel both relieved and sad that the tour is over. But we’ll meet again soon, right? I went to a Coldplay concert last month and cried for an hour because of the emotional power. I hope our concert felt like that to some of you. We will always try to make our shows better, and we hope you’ll be there to see it.”
