From May 16 to 18, the first-ever Sand in My Boots festival took place on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Country singer Nate Smith was among the artists who joined the celebration.
A video shared by All Country News showed Smith performing alongside fans. In the clip, Smith is surrounded by a crowd singing his 2024 hit, “Bulletproof.” The sun shone brightly over the audience as Smith moved through the crowd, singing and even hugging a fan.
Festival-goers sang, danced, and recorded the moment while Smith’s deep voice echoed from the speakers.
In addition to his own songs, Smith took the stage to perform a cover with his “rowdy” friends at the festival. On Instagram, he posted a video of himself singing Luke Combs’ popular song, “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” Smith tagged Combs in the post and wrote, “It’s an anthem We had to do it with all my rowdy friends.”
In the video, fans raised their phones, hands, and beers as they sang along with Smith to the 2019 hit.
Fans left comments sharing their reactions. One wrote, “Currently my favorite video on the internet, to be honest.” Another said, “Great showmanship.”
Looking ahead, Nate Smith is set to release a new song titled “Dads Don’t Die” on May 23. He has spoken on social media about the song, calling it “the most important song” he has ever written.
Many fans responded to the heartfelt track in the comments, sharing their own stories. One fan said, “Love this song. It hurts because my daddy has passed on. Can’t wait to see him again one day.”
The lyrics of “Dads Don’t Die” express the lasting impact fathers have on their children’s lives:
“Dads don’t die / Still make you laugh / Still make you cry / Still make you mad the day it dawns that you were wrong and he was right / Dads don’t die and neither does the love they leave behind / That’s the holy truth I hold on to until I see you in the next life / But there’s no pain / No goodbyes / Dad’s don’t die.”
