Valley Vinyl in Oshkosh Highlights the Underground Rap Scene

by Patria

The inaugural Valley Vinyl Music Festival made a powerful entrance at the Leach Amphitheatre in Oshkosh on May 10, drawing large crowds of underground rap fans to the city.

For 10 straight hours, artists and influencers from across the U.S. delivered high-energy performances to a crowd eager to support their music. The festival featured 13 unique sets, keeping the audience engaged without pause.

“It was a lot of fun,” said attendee Grant Burg. “Seeing Ski Mask the Slump God and artists from this genre in Oshkosh was awesome. We haven’t had anything like this here before.”

Festival founder Jonathan Jungwirth created Valley Vinyl to give back to his hometown and offer something new.

“Everyone came to connect, and I felt nothing but genuine love,” Jungwirth said in a social media post after the event. “That’s why I did this — to bring back connection in a world that seems to push negativity so hard.”

Excitement built as fans lined up and music filled the air. The crowd buzzed with anticipation as the event began.

Headliner Ski Mask the Slump God took the stage for a full hour, performing fan favorites like “Take a Step Back,” “Catch Me Outside,” and “H2O.” He also paid tribute to his late friends Juice WRLD and XXXTentacion. Jungwirth and Ski worked together to craft a performance that brought a wave of positive energy.

“Seeing Ski Mask perform was on my concert bucket list,” said Burg. “I’m definitely excited for what Valley Vinyl will do next year.”

As the sun set over the Leach Amphitheatre, Detroit-based duo Snow Strippers took the stage. Known for their intense electronic sound, the group lit up the venue with strobe lights and performed songs including their hit “Under Your Spell.” Their 55-minute set left fans stunned. Snow Strippers currently average 3.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

Also hitting the stage was Homixide Gang, who performed in anticipation of their upcoming album Homixide Lifestyle 2. The duo showcased unreleased tracks and fan favorites such as “Uzi Work” and “Lifestyle,” pushing the amphitheater’s sound system to its limits.

Before the headliners performed, fans enjoyed sets from a wide range of underground artists. These included Brothel in Belize, Che, Evilgiane, Fourfive, Hardrock, Molly Santana, PFA4Ever, RMC Mike, and a surprise appearance by Yung Bans, who stepped in for the reportedly ill Babychiefdoit.

Organizers are already looking ahead to next year’s event. The 2025 Valley Vinyl Music Festival is expected to return to the Leach Amphitheatre in September, with hopes of selling out the venue. More details will be released as the date approaches.
