Jason Isbell offered a heartfelt performance of his new single “Ride to Robert’s” Starring Jimmy Fallon last night. The acoustic number, which references Nashville’s iconic Robert’s Western World, is set to appear on Isbell’s upcoming solo album, Foxes in the Snow, due out on March 7.
Stripped down to a solo acoustic guitar arrangement, the performance captured the intimate, reflective tone of the song, aligning perfectly with Isbell’s current solo tour. The track is part of Foxes in the Snow, an album recorded last October at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The entire record was laid down in just five days, using a single all-mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17 guitar.
Foxes in the Snow marks a departure for Isbell, as it is his first solo acoustic album and his first without any members of his longtime band, the 400 Unit, since his 2007 debut Sirens In the Ditch. The album follows his 2023 release with the 400 Unit, Weathervanes.
Isbell’s solo tour, which began on February 15, will run through March 29. Following that, he will reunite with the 400 Unit for a spring and summer tour, joined by Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Band of Horses, and Garrison Starr on select dates.
