Little Simz is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sixth studio album, Lotus, set for arrival on May 9. The project marks her first full-length LP since 2022’s No Thank You. To kick off the album cycle, Simz has dropped the brooding first single, Flood, featuring Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly.
The track is accompanied by a striking black-and-white music video directed by Salomon Ligthelm, in which rain pours down on an atmospheric set filled with powerful imagery, including appearances from prayer leaders, enigmatic figures, and matadors.
In a post on Instagram, Simz shared her excitement, writing, “Setting the tone for May 9th. Embodying my artistry in the truest form with the first visuals for this new season. Run that up.”
On Lotus, Simz reflects on a challenging period in her life, channeling her experiences into art. She describes the album as an introspective exploration of her growth as an artist, experimenting with new sounds, collaborations, and pushing her creative boundaries.
