Paul Simon, who had announced his retirement from touring following a 2018 farewell tour, is making a surprise return to the stage. Despite facing significant hearing loss, which he had hoped would improve but did not, Simon will embark on the A Quiet Celebration Tour this spring and summer.
The 83-year-old music legend shocked fans with a performance on the SNL50 special, where he sang a duet with Sabrina Carpenter on “Homeward Bound.” Just days later, Simon revealed plans for his North American tour, which will kick off on April 4 at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans. The tour will feature multiple-night engagements in most cities, including Austin, Denver, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Vancouver, before concluding with three shows at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
The upcoming tour will be a special one, with Simon performing his Seven Psalms song cycle live for the first time in smaller, intimate venues that offer optimal acoustics to accommodate his hearing challenges. Presale tickets for select shows will be available starting February 20, with the public sale beginning on February 21.
