Cyndi Lauper has expressed her excitement over being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The singer, known for her hit “Time After Time,” was announced as part of the 2025 inductee class during the April 27 episode of American Idol. Lauper took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the honor.

In her post, she acknowledged several musical icons who inspired her, including Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Joni Mitchell, and Wanda Jackson. She wrote, “Women have made so many important contributions to music and to rock n roll, and a win for one of us is a win for all of us. Thank you to the voting members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for this honor.”

Lauper also thanked her fans, saying, “Thank you to my fans for supporting me throughout my career. I could not do any of this without you.”

Other artists joining Lauper in this year’s class include Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, OutKast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.

John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, praised the inductees, saying, “Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude that had a profound impact on culture and helped to change the course of Rock & Roll forever. Their music gave a voice to generations and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”
