Ahead of her highly anticipated performance with Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans, SZA has further expanded her 2023 album SOS. In December 2024, she released Lana, a deluxe edition that added 15 new tracks to the original album. Now, she has dropped a double deluxe version, featuring even more fresh material. The new release includes tracks like “Joni” featuring Don Toliver, “Take You Down,” “Open Arms” (solo), and “PSA.”
SZA had initially teased this extended album just days after Lana was unveiled, but the release was delayed several weeks due to the holiday season. On January 6, when fans were expecting the project to drop, SZA revealed another setback, though she eased the frustration by sharing a teaser trailer, which included a snippet of a track she created with producer Jay Versace.
Despite her efforts to build excitement, some fans expressed frustration over the continuous delays. In response, SZA took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the backlash. “I used to think sharing snippets, personal info + music tea would build connection but it actually just made ppl entitled ungrateful and disrespectful,” she wrote. “It’s time to restore the boundary.”
As she prepares to take the stage at the Super Bowl, SZA’s SOS continues to evolve, keeping fans on their toes with new releases and heartfelt reflections.
