Season 27 of The Voice kicked off with a fresh lineup of coaches, including Kelsea Ballerini, who is stepping into the coaching role for the first time. Alongside veteran coaches John Legend, Adam Levine, and returning coach Michael Bublé, Ballerini was welcomed with a special surprise from none other than Reba McEntire.
On the premiere night, Ballerini discovered a handwritten letter left by McEntire, which read, “Dear Kelsea, I heard you would be the new coach this season and I’m just so excited for you. It’s up to you to keep country alive on the show, and I know you’ll do a terrific job. Now go out there and show the boys who’s the boss.”
Along with the encouraging note, McEntire passed on a symbolic gift—a crown she wore during her own time on the show—reminding Ballerini of her responsibility as the new country music representative on The Voice.
With McEntire’s words fueling her, Ballerini enters the competition ready to uphold country music’s legacy on the show, following in the footsteps of past country icons like Blake Shelton. The 27th season of The Voice premiered on NBC on February 3, bringing a new dynamic to the iconic talent competition.
