Girls’ Generation’s Yoona has announced that the 2024 edition of MBC Gayo Daejejeon will mark her final appearance as a host for the popular year-end music program. After a decade of hosting the prestigious event, Yoona confirmed she will not be returning next year.
The first segment of this year’s show, under the theme “Wannabe,” was pre-recorded on December 31 and aired on Wednesday. Due to the Jeju Air crash, it was delayed until now, while the second and final segment is set to air on Thursday at 4:50 p.m.
Yoona has been an integral part of the MBC Gayo Daejejeon hosting team since 2005. This year, she co-hosted alongside SHINee’s Minho and TWS’s Dohoon.
Reflecting on her tenure, Yoona shared, “It’s my 10th year being the MC for ‘Gayo Daejejeon.’ I think the last time is always a bummer. I’ll always be sure to support the show. I wish time would pass by slowly at least for today.”
