In Old School Kind of Love, May reflects on the frustrations of modern-day dating, drawing inspiration from the values she holds dear. “I want a love like the one my dad has shown me,” she explained. “A love where the guy shows up to meet my parents and brings flowers, not just sending casual messages online.”
Looking to her own family for inspiration, May dedicates the song to her grandparents, who have been married for almost 66 years. She fondly remembers the stories of her grandfather picking up her grandmother for a dance at a local hall, a romance she admires deeply.
