The Alberta country music scene is set to come alive once again with the return of the Heartstrings & Honky Tonks concert series, offering fans an intimate, guitar pull-style experience featuring both local and national talent. This unique event blends the spirit of Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry and The Bluebird Café, where country musicians gather in a semi-circle, backed by a live band, to share stories and songs.
Dan Davidson, a St. Albert native and series organizer, compares the event to these iconic venues: “The Opry is the quintessential place where every country musician wants to sing… and The Bluebird Café is more stripped down, but you can feel something special there too. Both places are about sharing stories, fun, and personal moments—and that’s exactly what Heartstrings & Honky Tonks is all about.”
The 2025 series will see nearly 20 recording artists performing at five different venues across Alberta. Among the performers are Aaron Goodvin, Dan Davidson, Jake Mathews, Kelsi Mayne, and Oliva Rose, kicking off the series on February 9 at Sherwood Park’s Festival Place. Other concerts will feature artists like Clayton Bellamy, Morgan Klaiber, Duane Steele, Hailey Benedict, and Michelle Wright, with the final show set for May 3 in Bonnyville.
This year, CFCW Radio will also broadcast the concerts live, with radio host Jackie Rae Greening providing commentary between performances.
