Billie Eilish has shared her perspective on why she prefers not to release singles ahead of her new album’s launch.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published recently, the music icon explained her aversion to dropping singles before an album release. “I don’t like singles from albums,” Billie remarked. “Every time an artist I admire releases a single without the context of the album, I’m inclined to criticize it. I dislike when things are presented out of context.”

The 22-year-old singer elaborated, likening her album to a family: “This album is like a family: I don’t want one little kid to be in the middle of the room alone.”

On April 8, Billie Eilish announced via Instagram her upcoming third full-length studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” set to debut on May 17. In her post, she expressed her decision not to release singles, stating, “Not doing singles, I wanna give it to you all at once.”

“Hit Me Hard and Soft” follows her Grammy-winning debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” released in 2019 and her 2021 album “Happier Than Ever.”

Regarding her new album, Billie described it as a reflection of herself, saying, “I feel like this album is me. It’s not a character. It feels like the ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ version of me. It feels like my youth and who I was as a kid.”
