With their latest collection of hits, Rebel Diamonds, The Killers are set to debut at No. 1.
The Las Vegas rockers – made up of Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and Mark Stoermer – have seven chart-topping albums to their credit in the UK: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Menace (2020) and Pressure Machine (2021).
Outselling its nearest competitor by more than 2:1, Rebel Diamonds could also become The Killers’ first greatest hits LP to reach #1 in the UK. Their last, 2013’s Direct Hits, peaked at number 5.
Meanwhile, a brand new Top 3 midweek sees Queen of Rap Nicki Minaj and rising Canadian pop superstar Tate McRae throwing their hats into the ring.
Nicki’s fifth album, Pink Friday 2, is the follow-up to her influential 2010 debut, Pink Friday. It is predicted to debut at No. 2 and become her third Top 10 album. The original Pink Friday went on to peak at #16 when it came out.
But less than 100 chart units behind is Canadian up-and-comer Tate McRae with her confident second album THINK LATER (3), which already has two Top 20 hits in the booming Greedy (3) and the seductive Exes (12). It could be Tate’s second Top 10 LP, following her 2022 debut I Used to Think I Could Fly (7).
Elsewhere in the top 10, Kylie Minogue’s Extension (The Extended Mixes) is on track to debut at number 8. Extension serves as a remixed companion LP to her chart-topping 16th album, Tension.
With their live LP Closure/Continuation.Live (9), English rockers Porcupine Tree are also looking for their second Top 10 album this year. The band’s first Top 10 album was Closure/Continuation, which peaked at No. 2 in July.
Louis Tomlinson’s former No. 1 album Faith in the Future is set to return to the Top 20 this week at No. 16, following the release of his Charlie Lighting-directed documentary All of Those Voices on DVD.
