Manama, May 8 (BNA): The Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra is gearing up for its “Beauty of Classical Music” concert, set to take place on Friday, May 9, at the Bahrain National Theatre. Led by Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, the concert is a celebration of Europe Day, highlighting unity and diversity.
This special performance is organized in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman, with the support of several EU member states. It also marks the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, a historic proposal that laid the groundwork for European integration.
The concert will showcase the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra as one of the region’s top musical groups, featuring a program of iconic classical pieces that continue to enchant audiences worldwide.
Special guest performances will include soprano Marika Franchino, who will sing celebrated arias by Puccini, and violinist Olga Arribas Quintana, who will perform a solo from Mendelssohn’s renowned violin concerto.
The program also includes works by Beethoven, Mozart, Bizet, Sibelius, Bartók, and de Falla. In a symbolic tribute to Poland’s current presidency of the Council of the European Union, the concert will highlight the music of Frédéric Chopin.
Founded in 2022 by Maestro Dr. Mubarak Najem, who is also the director of the Police Band and the founder of the Bahrain Music Institute, the Bahrain Philharmonic Orchestra brings together more than 100 musicians and choir members, marking an exciting new era in Bahrain’s musical landscape.
