Reba McEntire recently reflected on her incredible 50-year career in country music, calling it “mind-boggling” to reach such a milestone. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, the 68-year-old country music icon discussed her journey, expressing that she never imagined making it this far when she first started.
McEntire shared her gratitude for the achievement, saying, “I’m very grateful, very thankful.” She added that during her 20th anniversary in the industry, she never thought she’d still be going strong five decades later. She credited country music legends like Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn for paving the way for female artists like herself and those who are following in her footsteps.
“These women worked hard and made it possible for the next generation of singers, and I try to make them proud,” McEntire said.
Reflecting on her success, McEntire acknowledged the role of faith in her career. “God gave me a gift, and I try to use it to give Him all the praise and glory,” she explained. “Without Him, I wouldn’t have had this gift, and I want to make Him proud.”
