Hip hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa, along with rock legend Warren Zevon, will receive the Musical Influence Award. Meanwhile, the late producer Thom Bell, pianist Nicky Hopkins, and bassist Carol Kaye will be recognized with the Musical Excellence Award.
Lenny Waronker, a key figure in the music industry known for his work as the head of Warner Bros. Records and for signing artists like Prince and R.E.M., will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award, which honors non-performing individuals who have shaped the industry.
The induction ceremony, which doubles as a star-studded concert, will take place on November 8 in Los Angeles. The event will stream live on Disney+ and later air on ABC.
The inductees were announced live on Sunday during a special rock edition of “American Idol” on ABC.
Nominees for the Rock Hall must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before being nominated. Outkast, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, and Bad Company were all first-time nominees.
The 2024 inductee class also includes Cher, Mary J. Blige, and Ozzy Osbourne.
