Chicago-based post-metal band Pelican has announced the release of their much-anticipated new album, Flickering Resonance. The follow-up to 2019’s Nighttime Stories is set to be released in May 2025 via Run For Cover Records.
With this new album, Pelican aims to reconnect with the spirit of their early days, drawing inspiration from their time performing at Chicago’s iconic Fireside Bowl. Guitarist Trevor Shelley de Brauw reflected on the band’s journey, noting, “When Laurent [Schroeder-Lebec] left and we were able to carry it through, there became a real sense of gratitude for the fact we still have this artistic outlet and a community of people who want to support it.” That sense of appreciation is woven into every track of Flickering Resonance.
In addition to the album announcement, Pelican has shared a new single, “Cascading Crescent,” giving fans a taste of what’s to come. Pre-orders for the album are now available.
