Kid Rock recently shared his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar’s iconic Super Bowl halftime show, calling it “the epitome of DEI blowing up”. The veteran rock musician acknowledged that the performance wasn’t to his personal taste but expressed admiration for Lamar’s unapologetic approach.
“I grew up loving hip-hop culture—break dancing, DJing, graffiti, rapping—so I understand it a bit more than most,” Kid Rock told host Bill Maher. “And when I say ‘most,’ I’m referring to white people.” He went on to praise Lamar for his bold, defiant performance, saying, “He came out figuratively with both middle fingers in the air, doing what he does for the people who live his life, unapologetically.”
Kid Rock reflected on how Lamar’s unflinching authenticity reminded him of his own career trajectory. “It’s pretty much how I built my whole career. I gotta respect it,” he concluded.
