Monument Festival, set against the stunning Penshaw Monument in Herrington Country Park, is gearing up for its second year with an exciting new wave of artists. The 2025 edition of the one-day festival will take place on Saturday, July 19, and promises to bring even more music and energy to the region.
Following a successful 2024 edition featuring The Coral, The View, and Jake Bugg, the latest lineup announcement includes Mercury Music Prize-nominated Yard Act and BRIT Award-winning The Fratellis, both making their Monument Festival debuts. The Fratellis, known for hits like “Chelsea Dagger,” are expected to deliver their trademark sing-along anthems, while Yard Act brings their unique indie-rock sound to the stage.
Joining them will be Red Rum Club, The Twang, and Porij, with more acts to be announced, including a headliner set to be revealed next week. Organizers are teasing some surprises to keep fans eagerly anticipating the event.
In a new collaboration, the festival has teamed up with Waves Festival to introduce the Waves Stage, curated by Sunderland’s long-standing music venue, Independent. The new stage will feature top emerging and established acts, adding to the festival’s already impressive lineup.
Monument Festival, now recognized as a key event in Sunderland’s Music City journey, celebrates a diverse range of musical talent, from national touring stars to local heroes. Organizers are excited to offer an affordable experience, with tickets priced under £40 for 19 original artists. Tickets are available now.
