Darius Rucker, the Grammy Award-winning country star and former lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish, is set to host a new series on Absolute Radio Country. The four-part series will debut on Sunday, February 23, at 7pm, where Rucker will share his personal journey in music and spotlight the country music tracks that have shaped his career.
Currently in the UK writing and recording for an upcoming project, Rucker will also host the CMA Songwriters Series at the O2 in March. He is scheduled for a UK arena tour in October, supported by Jake Owen and The Shires.
Rucker expressed his excitement about the opportunity, saying, “I wanted to make the most of every minute that I’m spending here in the UK. So, when Absolute Radio Country came calling, asking me to do these new shows, I couldn’t say no. Join me from February 23 as I share stories and songs from the music genre I love. I can’t think of a better way to spend my Sunday evenings.”
Ricky Marshall, Head of Content for Absolute Radio Country, also shared his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to have Darius join the Absolute Radio Country family for this special series. He’s a true country trailblazer, and our audience has loved his music for years. It’s a real treat to hear him share stories from his remarkable career and handpick his favorite songs.”
Since releasing his first country album in 2008, Rucker has earned a devoted fanbase, with four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart, including Learn to Live and True Believers, both RIAA Platinum-certified. He’s also notched 10 No. 1 singles at country radio and 11 Gold, Platinum, or multi-Platinum certified hits.
Rucker was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2012 and won his third Grammy Award in 2014 for Best Solo Country Performance with his Diamond-certified version of “Wagon Wheel,” one of the best-selling country songs of all time.
